Kawana Surf Club is committed to providing Responsible Gambling services. This is achieved through the implementation of the Queensland Responsible gaming Code of Practice which provides a proactive approach to the promotion of responsible gambling practices. It is committed to ethical and responsible behaviour that recognises the importance of our members’ well-being with a focus on minimising the potential harm of gambling to individuals and the wider community

WHAT IS RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING?

Responsible gambling occurs in a regulated environment where the potential for harm associated with gambling is minimized and people make informed decisions about their participation in gambling.

WHAT IS PROBLEM GAMBLING?

Problem gambling exists when gambling activity results in a range of adverse consequences where; - The safety and wellbeing of gambling customers and/or their families and friends placed at risk; and/or negatively impacts the wider community.

BEHAVIOURAL SIGNS OF PROBLEM GAMBLING INCLUDE

  • Gambling more money than you can afford

  • Gambling with money which should be used for household bills

  • Emotional outburst and mood swings

  • Increased alcohol consumption

  • Dishonesty to access money for gambling

  • Borrowing money to gamble

  • Absence from work or home

HOW TO GET HELP

Help is available if you think you have a gambling problem. At Kawana Surf Club we have a Customer Liaison Officer who is available to discuss with. You can access this person by asking a daily manager or by calling 5444 8642.

The Gambling ounselling service at Mission Australia provide free, confidential, non-judgmental counselling support for individuals and families, and community members who are concerned about their own or others' gambling. There is no limit on the number of sessions available for people who need help. Support is provided face-to-face, or via telephone.

SELF-EXCLUSION

Self-exclusion is another option to assist gamblers. With self-exclusion a person has the ability to bans themselves from the club entirely, the gaming room solely or any gambling facilities within the club (extending to keno, TAB & gaming). Our Customer Liaison officer can assist you with this process and can be contacted through the Club.

ONCE EXCLUDED

Persons entering the gambling areas of Kawana Surf Club once excluded, will be committing an offence by law and are subject to prosecution and penalties including fines of up to $3,000.

RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL

It is the policy of Kawana Surf Club that customers who are identified as intoxicated are no longer allowed to gamble.

MINORS

Minors are prohibited from entering the gaming area at Kawana Surf Club. If a minor is found in the gaming area they will be escorted from the venue.

FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS

ATMs at our venue only allow access to debit accounts and are intentionally located out of view from gaming machines. No credit is available at anytime to anyone under any circumstance.

ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONS

Kawana Surf Club will conduct advertising and promotions in regards to Keno, TAB & Gaming in an ethical and responsible manner.
