OUR CLUB
A PROUD HISTORY
The idea of a surf club at Kawana emerged in 1980 when the Kawana Apex Club sought a service project. After several tragic drownings and discovering that some members held Bronze Medallions, the club was formed on September 12, 1980.
Volunteers built a patrol shed and, later, a clubhouse, which opened on November 21, 1982, with a loan from the Commonwealth Bank Kawana. The club repaid the $99,000 loan by its 10th anniversary.
Now celebrating our 40th anniversary, the club has undergone many renovations and expansions, with growing patrolling member numbers as more families call Kawana home.
OUR NEW CLUB
With all final approvals secured, construction is set to begin in early March.
Keep an eye on our socials for renovation notices and updates.
Please note, our Club entrance has been temporarily located on the eastern side (ocean side) of the building. We recommend parking at the Cooper’s Lookout Carpark (north of the Surfie).
